Overview

First People of the Old World

‎ The Torgali are the closest modern equivalent to any of the ancient native species to the Beanut Lands that still exist in the present day. Millennia of survival in the eastern wilds has made them powerful, tough, and competitive. Their respect for the tempestuous and bountiful nature of their tropical world has kept their communities traditional, cunning, and crafty for ages.

Tok Supergroup

While in modern times, the four distinct peoples of the Tok species are not quite as physically similar as they once were, scholars and historians have agreed that the Torgali, Canzians, Lovalians, and Dawi have all descended from a single ancestor, known as the Primal Tok.

Syntax

pronunciation

[tore•GAHL•ee]

n. singular

Torgali
“That Torgali is strong.“

plural

Torgali
“There are many Torgali.”

adj.

Torgali
“That is a Torgali artifact.“

Etymology

The most clear origin of the term Torgali comes from the word tok itself, meaning “first” or “prime” in the Tok language, and –gali being a general term for “people.”

Occasionally the word Torgalian may be used, most likely due to a linguistic reinterpretation to fit the grammatical expectations of Common, and is often used for something of nature that comes from the geographical locations within the Beanut Land of Torgalia (i.e. a Torgalian fruit) rather than referring to something created by its people (i.e. Torgali tapestry). Almost all references to people, cultures, and locations within Torgalia are widely accepted to be described as Torgali.
