Dawi
Heritage
Regardless of an individual’s Culture, their ancestors likely come from one of the following groups which determines a few of their notable physical characteristics.
For most of known Dawi history, their people have been drastically split because of their isolation on the floating islands. With only the most daring, adventurous, and sometimes lucky of their people having the courage to travel between the islands in the early days, they have the most clearly-distinguished differences in their base skeletal structure, especially in their head shapes. Their heritage also influences their ear shapes, complexions, and hair, as well as their genetic predisposition to certain body types. In most cases, heritage is directly linked to the place they were born and the cultures who historically make up the population there, but it is also influenced by their biological parents’ heritage.
Note: Your Heritage choice is purely for storytelling and may have narrative implications, but will not affect your characters stats, attributes, skills, or abilities.
The features listed below are the most common for each specific Heritage group, but features that are not mentioned will default to the typical physicality found on the Biology page. You can find the general physical traits on the main Species page.

Kormaïk
Location of origin: Kormaïtus
The largest and most expansive of the Danuvican islands, Kormaïtus has allowed the similarly-named Kormaïk heritage group to be the least restricted to close quarters living. The golden fields of this summery island are fertile and wide. Kormaïtus has historically provided the majority of the grain and vegetables for the islands of Danuvica, and its people are likewise hardy and strong. Thanks to this bountiful blessing, the Danuvicans of this island have had the strength and sustenance to advance their unique societies fairly quickly, despite their limitations of being cut off from the surface world. Kormaïk people favor the ancient Tok and Torgali characteristics the most of all Dawi, with strong jaws, underbites, and prominent mono-eyelid shapes. Their ears and faces have taken on the wilder characteristics of large-nosed ungulates, such as the hippopotamus and rhinoceros (sans horn).
Kormaïk people are mostly part of the Danuvican culture, though some are surface Arcanicans as well. Very few fall into any other Culture of the world.

Nornvrik
Location of origin: Nornvirn
The Nornvrik people have evolved over eons on the island of Nornvirn, whose surface consists mostly of crowded, woodland regions populated with odd, squat flora, fauna, and a flourishing mycelial ecosystem. The Nornvrik people likewise have evolved alongside the creatures of this shady island to be fairly cognizant of the life cycle of their odd home. Though Nornvirn is only marginally smaller than Kormaïtus in landmass, the usable space for settlement and expansion on this island is fairly limited, as the deep roots and fungal colonies restrict most industrial development and underground potential beyond a certain depth. This has not stopped the Nornvrik from becoming some of the most innovative architects, even allowing many surface folk to participate in cultural development, unlike the other Danuvican people. Thanks to their more indoor-based living situations in their rainy homeland, they have developed more comfort-driven body types in their lush home, as well as paler tones of skin and hair. Their ears are thin and floppy, similar to boar, hog, or pig’s ears, and their noses are often sloped or upturned.
Nornvrik people are mostly part of the Danuvican culture, though some are surface Arcanicans as well. Very few fall into any other Culture of the world.

Dagnuk
Daƞuk in Dawin
Location of origin: Dagonærus
The descendants who have settled within the island of Dagonærus have evolved in mixed circumstances. The surface area of Dagonærus is rocky, craggy, and difficult to establish any comfortable shelter without attracting the attention of the fearsome, predatory Venukan Gryphons: megavian animals that are also native to this island. Most of the Dagnuk settlements have thrived by expaning deeply, but carefully, into this rocky and arid island.
Though they have spent much of their history underground in architecturally masterful tunnels that would impress even a Grimkin, their evolution has favored camouflage-based complexions similar to their primal Tok ancestors, instead of tones based directly on sun exposure. Most Dagnuk people are very rich tones of umber, ebony, and midnight, indeed some of the deepest tones of all Beanut Lands people.
Requiring more environmental awareness due to the dangerous nature of their island, the Dagnuk have developed more upturned and dexterous ears that rotate forward and backward, usually resting in an upright, alert position, similar to creatures such as camels, llamas, and alpacas.
Dagnuk people are primarily part of the Danuvican culture, and few are surface Arcanicans. It is rare to see Dagnuk people in other Cultures.

Marnok
Location of origin: Marinot
People descended from the original clans of the island of Marinot, Danuvica, the most isolated of the already-isolated Danuvican islands. Marinot is almost entirely mountainous, a desert of heat in the daytime and freezing cold at night. This has not stopped the Marnok people from hunkering down and persevering, as their Tok instincts of determination and survival demand. While they have occasionally benefitted from contact and trade with the other islands of Danuvica, the Marnok people have developed an entirely different culture and lifestyle, proudly independent and free from the government and laws of Danuvica itself, save a few treaties for survival purposes. Because of their cultural differences, as well as the geological differences in their island, the Marnok people have developed to favor more of their desert surface kin, the Canzians, than any of the other Dawi. While they aren’t particularly feline, instead featuring the characteristics of bovines, such as cows, bison, sheep, goats, and antelopes, the Marnok people were brought up with more wild and warm features. They typically have the most hair of all Dawi, even developing manes down their shoulders and backs.
Marnok people are overwhemingly Nostrovican culture. Very few fall into any other Culture of the world.

Eenuz
Ǝnuz in Dawin
Location of origin: Any surface settlement or mixed-Tok parentage
The Dawi who have assimilated with the surface Lands, and those of mixed-Tok parentage. These Dawi feature characteristics of any other heritage group, and are more likely to appear like a general Tok person.
Eenuz people are fairly diverse, mostly taking on other cultures. A solid number of them still live the Arcanican cultural lifestyle.

Genetic Modifier
Athnuz
Aθnuz in Dawin
Location of origin: Small chance for any Dawi, anywhere
Note: This is a modifier that can be chosen in addition to a primary Heritage for any person with a Dawi parent; it is not a stand-alone Heritage.
A rare, recessive Dawi gene sometimes causes them to have absolutely no hair — not on their head, face, or anywhere upon their body. Unfortunately due to the very traditional beard and hair styling standards in Danuvica, most of the people who are born with the Athnuz gene find themselves more welcome in surface cultures than their own native ones. This is not to say that those more resilient and carefree of the Athnuz people do not thrive in Danuvica, but because of the nonexistence of Danuvican beauty standards on the surface many Athnuz prefer that freedom to blend in with everyone else.
Athnuz people are roughly split half-and-half between leaving Dawin culture behind and embracing their differences. This may be heavily influenced by their base Heritage group and the island they come from.
