Willonian
Pioneers of Industry
Arriving in the Beanut Lands with a fearless bravado that is scarcely seen in other species, the Willonians were a force to be reckoned with; their ambition, adaptability, and virility led them to excel wherever they settled. Where other people traditionally connected with the land and made the best of what their environments provided, Willonians instead look to the potential and push the boundaries of what is possible. Their innovation and determination have catapulted the expansion of Willonians into all corners of the continent, but it has also earned themselves a reputation for being reckless and volatile. Indeed, the first great feat achieved by the Willonians upon their arrival was to hunt, tame, and drive back the deadly wild beasts of the central plains. In the span of a decade, the wild plains that had only been inhabited by the smaller Hinfolk became the forefront of the agricultural industry, and still thrives as the breadbasket of the Beanut Lands to this day.

Regardless of an individual’s Culture, their ancestors likely come from one of the following groups which determines a few of their notable physical characteristics.
DAUGHTÉT
Willonians from the southern, capitol region of Willory Daughton Province, a bountiful, summery grassland marked by its bright, clear lakes
MORRTHANI
People who hail from the historic Willonian landing place of Port Province, a salty coastal territory with cool and rainy weather
GINTYN
The hardy people from the cool, northern, rocky highlands region of Ginty Norlands Province
BAODETHIAN

VALENSCH
The residents of the lush and dappled woodlands of western Willonia, bordering the Royal Crown mountain range in the Willory Woods Province
HENSCH

FLORENE
Influenced by the practices, cultures, diets, and magic of the the Sylvan-dominated Heartlands and Brittle Bog, the Florene Willonians have become more colorful than most of their kin.
STURLING
The Sturling Willonians have established many permanent land settlements along the Western Coastland territories beyond Willonia proper, but they are truly shaped by the rough cliffs and tempestuous waters they prefer to sail on.
VELDEN
While most Velden descend from the Imperial Crownlands, they also can come from just about any place in outside of the Willonia, the Heartlands, and the Crownlands.
Once the details for all the Heritage options have been fully written and edited, we will be providing all 10 species’ Heritage information at once.

Physicality
Body
Willonian bodies are extremely adaptive. Based on the current season, location, and external influences, a single Willonian’s body can look completely different in a very short time. Those who spend time in colder or more urban environments may take on excess fat reserves, while those living in survivalist or challenging geographic locations will likely be more lean or muscular. While each Willonian may be predisposed to a certain body type from their genetics, they have the most potential to change without making extreme lifestyle changes.

Skin
Similar to their body types, Willonian complexions are very diverse and adaptive. Generally, a Willonian’s skin tone at birth will determine their overall coloring, but the lightness or darkness of their skin can easily adjust based on their lifestyle or location, particularly their sun exposure or deprivation. Much like real life humans, groups with a greater history of sun exposure trend toward darker and warmer tones, while those without trend toward lighter and cooler complexions.

Hair
Primarily contained within the warmer tones of the color spectrum, much like the skin tone chart above, Willonians may also develop cooler, neutral tones of hair such as greys, deep olive, raven black, and midnight slate and reds. While hair colors are heavily influenced by their birth Heritage, all Willonian hair colors are possible for all Willonian people.
Eyes
Willonian eye colors can be just about any color of the rainbow, but tend to be more neutral and dark tones such as browns, honey, hazel, grey-blue, olive green, lavender, teal, and black.
Willonian eye colors are heavily influenced by magic use and effects. Those who practice magic over long periods of time may notice some changes or adjustments, especially when actively channeling. While this is not exclusive to Willonians, it is the most dramatically noticeable within this species.
Ears
Willonians have traditional, rounded Varian ears, much like real-life humans.
Traditional Reproduction
Willonians can procreate through traditional 2-partner reproduction with any Varian species.
Willonian + Willonian: a child will always be Willonian
Willonian + Hinfolk: a child will be the same species as their mother
Willonian + Grimkin: a child will always be Grimkin

⚘ Heritage
Regardless of an individual’s Culture, their ancestors likely come from one of the following groups which determines a few of their notable physical characteristics.
For Willonians, this mainly affects their visual appearance pre-adulthood, as Varian people have the most potential for natural, physical changes over the course of their lives. Due to their dramatically distinct borders within the Beanut Lands, the Heritage choices for Willonians are fairly robust.
Note: Your Heritage choice is purely for storytelling and may have narrative implications, but will not affect your characters stats, attributes, skills, or abilities.

Daughton Heritage
Location of origin: Willory Daughton Province
Daughton people hail from the most heavily urbanized region of Willonia, which is centered around the capitol city, High Daughton. The people of this hilly, lakeland region have developed softer body types and darker hair and skin colors, as well as a good likelihood of visible freckles, moles, and birthmarks. These are likely due to their warmer, summery climate, and proximity to the Hinlands to the south.

Sheplander Heritage
Location of origin: Sheplands Province
While not everyone in the Sheplands province is a laborer, it is clear that the people who live work-centric lifestyles such as farmers and ranchers have had the most influence on Sheplander genetics. Trending toward tan and olive skintones, darker hair colors, and thicker, more load-bearing body types, the majority of Sheplanders stem from the rustic field folk who established themselves in the easternmost region of Willonia many centuries ago.

Baodethian Heritage
Location of origin: Baodethia Province
On the northeastern fields in the province of Baodethia, the weather is much more temperate, thanks to the cool breezes from the northern sea. While the southern warm fronts keep the summers hot, the people of Baodethia have been blessed by a mostly seasonal region. Because of this, the Baodethians have a great diversity in complexion and hair colors, from pale to dark. Their body types trend toward the weaker end of the body types, as a testament to their comfortable suburban location, which has allowed most of these people a convenience that many other Lands do not have. However, over the ages, it appears that beauty standards (or perhaps simple chance) have lead these people to genetically pass down a unique shade of striking pure-blue eye color that is rarely seen in other Willonian people.

Gintyn Heritage
Location of origin: Ginty Norlands Province
The people of the northern highlands province of Ginty Norlands are often seen as more provincial, gruff, and worn than the other provinces, linking them more closely to the Westland people. Though this area is just west of the seasonal province of Baodethia, the craggy landscape and chilly northern winds have made this region home to those who choose to live off the cooler province with pride and resilience. The Gintyn people often sport hair in reds, orange, and gold, bright and fiery. They trend towards lighter, neutral eye colors, most commonly grey and greens. Their hardy homeland leads them to develop more strong or stocky body types as opposed to thin or soft.

Valensch Heritage
Location of origin: Willory Plains Province
Though woodlands exist everywhere in Willonia, none are so extensive as the dark Valendorn woodlands of the Willory Plains in the shadow of the Royal Crown mountains. The people who hail from this region have lived in an area with such reduced sun exposure that they exhibit some of the palest Willonian skin tones on average, even rivaling some Lovalian complexions. Oddly, though, the Valensch people most commonly have purely black, raven, and cool, dark hair colors. They often develop similar skin markings as the Daughton, such as freckles and moles.

Morrthani Heritage
Location of origin: Port Province
On the northernmost coastlands of Willonia, nestled between the Crownlands and the north sea, the people of the Port Province have been given the name “Morrthani”, after the capitol city Morrtham. Experiencing a wide diversity of lifestyles, this historic province is known as the original landing place of the Willonians in centuries past. While the people here don’t often show drastically unique characteristics, due to its historic nature and ties to all of Willonia, the Morrthani trend toward the mid-range on both hair and skin tones. Tan, brown, and olive complexions are extremely common for the natives of this province, as well are mid-range hair colors ranging from dirty blonde to brown, auburn, and grey. Likely due to their adjacency to the Armadian cultures of the west, the Morrthani people have a tendency to value physical achievement and hard work, so they are more inclined toward more fit, strength-focused body types.

Westlander Heritage
Location of origin: Westlands
The rocky coastlands of Westland are home to people who have shunned much of Willonian society, so much so that they have retained much of their old seafaring ideals and governmental structures. Armadian culture has heavily influenced their people so much that the Westlander Heritage is one of the most physically recognizable of all Willonian people. Westanders usually have light hair colors, bleached of their color from the salt and sea. Their deep-set, piercing, pale eye colors and large, thick hands have been passed down for generations. Westlanders are on average taller and stockier than most other Willonian people, appearing almost like a larger species entirely.

Marcher Heritage (Mixed Varian)
Location of origin: Imperial Crownlands
Hailing from the Crownlands regions, the Marchers live within the alpine valleys, forests, mountains, and settlements of Imperial society. Because they are nestled snugly between the Royal Crown and Rocky Crown mountains, the altitude and chilly environment have predisposed the more rural people to develop light hair colors and pale, pink skin tones. While they still have a good diversity, thanks to their large and populated homeland, Marchers from more urban Crownlands environments have integrated so heavily with other Varian species that their genetic diversity could easily cause them to be mistaken for any other Willonian Heritage.
