Faekin
Children of the Air
Sylvan tales tell of a great war in that land that forced them from the ancestral grounds, cursing the Sylvan Southlands with death and rot. Having been driven from the Lands and forced into a tiny plot of land in the northern area of the mountains, most of the Primal Sylvans fled the continent for thousands of years. Those who remained in the western valley, nestled primarily in the Glen regions, were the only known Sylvan residents of the continent for many millennia. It wasn’t until much later, when the Canzian people crossed over into the western mountain valleys that the early records of modern Faekin were first etched in history. The modern-day Faekin, sometimes referred to in common as simply “Fae”, are thought to be the closest physical representation of the ancient, Primal Sylvan people of the first ages.
Faekin have a well-earned reputation for their vibrant spirits, gregarious personalities, and love of revelry. Aspects of all cultures and people are present in their ancestral home Land and have each influenced the current Faekin in some small ways. Their free and whimsical nature fights against a permanently settled lifestyle, especially one outside of their ancestral homelands. Faekin are the longest-lived people in the Beanut Lands, which has drastically affected their biological evolution in contrast to other species. Regardless of their longevity, from birth to the moment of their death, Fae are known to delight in what other people might consider childish fancies and tricks, and yet they have such a deep connection with the world’s nature that even the youngest of them can exhibit ageless wisdom.

Skin
Fae complexions are often bold or bright, displaying the most vibrant colors in nature. Each Fae’s skin is often a signature of their birthplace, or their parent’s favorite part of nature, or even a magical ingredient that brought about their existence.
Lighter values (top) are common in colder environments.
Darker values (bottom) are common in warmer or darker environments.

Hair
Fae hair is typically very light naturally. The most common hair color for Faekin is white, but all colors are seen everywhere.
Their hair grows in textures from smooth and thin to highly-textured and thick. All textures are common for all Faekin.
Eyes
Fae eye colors are just as diverse as their skin tones, and range anywhere from pale grey to pure black.
A fae’s eyes are typically large, almost child-like, and commonly have a pointed look, especially accentuated on the outer corners. Some strongly-featured Fae may even appear more alien compared to a real life human.
Ears
Faekin have long, prominent, pointed ears. The overall curvature and shape is highly dependent on their heritage.(See sub-species characteristics below)
Sylvan Aurogenesis
In addition to traditional two-parent procreation, the people of the Sylvan species supergroup (Faekin, Bodren, and Fangren) have a unique connection with the Auric nature of magic in the world. This has given their people the ability to produce offspring through the use of naturally Auric objects. To perform this ritual, known as Aurogenesis, requires at least one Sylvan parent and an appropriate Auric resource with high enough magic to complete the ritual.
For Faekin, the most accepted resources come from legendary-level magical creatures, such as bird leaves, magical powders, and carapace from certain winged insects.
Traditional Reproduction
Faekin can procreate through traditional 2-partner reproduction with any Sylvan species. If the child is Faekin, they will inherit the Heritage of their Faekin parent, but may exhibit some traits of the other species, if it is a possibility.
Faekin + Faekin: child will always be Faekin with a 50% chance to take either parent’s heritage
Faekin + Bodren: child will always be Bodren
Faekin + Fangren: child will always be Fangren
