Stature and Build
Due to their historic, cultural acceptance of individualism and self-expression, the body types of Grimkin are extremely diverse. Similar to all Varian people, their bodies are adaptive throughout their lives, allowing them to drastically change body weight, mass, and build at later points in life. While their heritage may have influence on their original body type, each Grimkin’s journey will affect their own build over the course of their life.
Grimkin have unique proportions when compared to the other people of the world, especially related to their facial features. Namely, this manifests in considerably more sizable ears and foreheads, as well as more rounded, often bulbous noses. Often times, Grimkin will also exhibit larger hands and feet than would be expected from smallfolk, sometimes even as large as an average Willonian’s.
Most Grimkin are between 3′ and 4′ tall (~91 – 122cm)
Skin & Complexions
Almost all Grimkin have been born and bred in the northern Frostlands of the Beanut Lands, meaning they’ve had a notable lack of sun exposure over the millennia. While the greatest majority of Grimkin have lived entirely underground for many thousands of years, there are still those who have established themselves on the surface in more recent centuries. The Grimkin have very pale complexions, and may find themselves struggling with the inconvenience of sunburns in places of extreme heat.

Hair
Naturally, Grimkin commonly have almost entirely white , grey, or black hair, due to the fact that their homeland has very little exposure to typical nutrients and vitamins from the surface. Those who have ventured to the surface have noticed a lean into the typical, warm tones that other Varian people exhibit naturally, such as light blondes, ginger, reddish, and brown tones, but these are only found in Grimkin who spend a good deal of time on the surface.
Grimkin hair textures are usually soft, thin, and wispy, naturally taking well to easy styling and color-dyeing. Though other hair textures are possible, they are uncommon.
Eyes
Grimkin eyes come in all colors of the rainbow. They range from white to black, and anywhere in between.
Due to their long-exposure to incredibly dark conditions, the Grimkin have developed reflective lenses deep inside their eyes, allowing them to take in more light than other species. This often gives them the shiny-eyed look of a cat or dog when looking directly into the light.
Reproduction
Traditional Reproduction
The Beanut Lands does not have half-species for mechanical clarity, but it is possible for some inter-species relations to produce offspring. A person with mixed-species parentage may exhibit physical traits from a parent of another species. If you are interested in this level of customization for your image and story, please be sure to examine the Heritage subgroups to determine which groups your parents come from. You may also use Growth Features during character creation to adjust your mechanics to fit your narrative decisions if you are inclined.
Grimkin can procreate through traditional 2-partner reproduction with any other Varian species. This includes Willonians and Hinfolk. They are unable to produce children with Tok or Sylvan people, and will not exemplify unique traits from those species, unless otherwise noted in a Heritage subgroup.
For inter-species parentage, the following biological rules will always apply:
Grimkin + Grimkin: a child will always be Grimkin
Grimkin + Willonian : a child will be the same species as their male parent
Grimkin + Hinfolk : a child will always be Hinfolk
