FOUNDATION
FLAVOR

✪ Growth Features
After you have chosen your Species, Culture, and Origin, you will be granted ✪ Experience Points (XP) that you can use to further customize your characters stats and features. However, before you begin spending in the ✪XP Web, you may choose to participate in this optional stage: Growth Features.
During this stage, you may choose to make more detailed modifications to your character’s Attributes, stats, and Skills. Growth Features will allow you to spend your starting ✪XP to boost your stats, or even take penalties to gain extra ✪XP. There are also some “Rebalancing” features that grant both bonuses and penalties.
You may choose up to 5 Growth Features total for your character, which can drastically alter who they have become at the start of their new story.
Attribute Limits:
During Character Creation, no Attribute can be pushed above +5, or below -3. If you take a Feature that would alter an Attribute past these limits, the excess of the Feature will not take effect. All other aspects of that Feature will take effect.
For example, if your
FIN Score is already a +4, and you take the Precise Feature (+2
FIN), you will only leave Character Creation with a
FIN of +5.
Alternatively, if your
FIN Score is a -3, and you take the Stoic Feature (+1
GRT and -1
FIN), you will still be given the
GRT, despite the fact that your
FIN can no longer be reduced.
Maturity Features
Maturity Features help to add more credibility to your character’s age, so it feels more impactful than simply a number on your sheet.

Fortune Features tell the major story of your character, from their personality and brain chemistry to their biological exceptionalism or disability. These allow you to distinguish your character and expand upon their story while also making real, mechanical adjustments to their starting stats.

These high-cost traits have a strong positive impact on your character’s raw mechanical output. Taking one of these might cost more experience than your base allowance, so you may be required to also take a Quirk, Misfortune, or Ignobility to afford it.
Minor Perks
Mid-cost traits that have a focused, positive impact within a single Attribute.
Rebalance Traits
Gain bonuses at the cost of penalties, but they come at lower adjustment to your starting ✪XP. These are great for those who wish to make minor changes without altering their leveling potential.
Minor Quirks
These features may come with a bonus or two, but don’t be deceived! They are mostly an overall reduction in attributes, so you gain a small amount of ✪XP for taking them.
Major Misfortunes
Sometimes, fate will deal us a bad hand, but through determination we learn from these trials. These features tell a story of hardship, but grant the most bonus ✪XP, which you can use for other bonuses or in the ✪XP Web.
