Character Creation in the Beanut Lands
Creating a new character in The Beanut Lands system is done in several steps.
Each of these decisions you make has a solid impact on your character’s mechanics and story.
Foundation
This category contains the most impactful, mechanical aspects that heavily affect your character’s potential play style. It includes:
✿ Species
☗ Culture
❖ Origin
✪ Growth
Flavor
When it comes to the appearance, ideologies, and story of your character, you will be in control for the most part. While some choices you make will be expected to fall within the realm of possibility within the lore of the world, you will be the primary driving-force for this stage of character creation. Flavor includes:
✤ Name

♛ Ideologies
✎ Story

Foundation
Modular Building
In each of the four Foundation categories (✿ Species, ☗ Culture, ❖ Origin, and ✪ Growth) your selections can be made completely independently, but there may be meaningful connections between each choice you make.
For example, your species may be the majority population in certain cultures, but outlandish in others; your culture may influence what origins would be more common in your home Land, where some origins might not be looked upon as acceptable lifestyles; your choice of Growth Features could affect your community’s opinion of you, or perhaps even begin to set you apart from a typical person of your species.
Character Feature System
Every selection you make will offer a number of Features, each of which expands upon a specific aspect of your life. Features will help you to understand both your character and the world they have experienced. By the end of the Foundation section, you should have between 10 and 20 total unique Features that help you to understand how your Foundation choices come together.
You will continue to gain Features during role play as well, mostly through the ✪ XP Web character leveling system.
