The Origin of The Beanut Lands
The original Beanut Lands concept was envisioned in April of 2020 to make a board game to play on a Minecraft Server called Eureka. Six unique sections were created around the map, each with unique items to collect, monsters to battle, and monuments to explore. At the end of their travels, each player would get points for the items they had collected, based on their value. Being a fairly large undertaking for one person, drewcy invited 5 friends to assist with the construction of the board game world – and so each of the 6 Lands of the original game was assigned to a different person.
- The Willow Hill
- The Grim Cave
- The Chilly Cliff
- The Nettle Forest
- The Brittle Bog
- The Sizzling Sands

Willow Hill
A land of agriculture and civilization was created by dottedpots. This land was marked by a Great Willow Tree at its very center. Characterized by the cozy village, this land had a magical troll bridge where you could find artifacts, a dark root cave beneath the Great Willow where you could fight wicked and greedy monsters, and a lovely Willow Beanut that could be found if you were lucky enough.
Grim Cave
A spooky and cavernous underground tunnel system was created by JustinDB, with additional building assistance from Pigginstein. Deep underground, this land held hidden wonders such as the magnificent crystal cavern where you could find artifacts, a pitch-black monster cave where creatures of the dark evilly lurked, and a frozen waterfall near the Beanut Temple where you might find a Grim Old Beanut.
Chilly Cliff
A snowy white, mountainous land of harsh weather and mammoth creatures was created by Grandpa, a.k.a. ToreVor. High above the rest of the Lands, the Chilly Cliff housed a magnificent magical floating Shard where you could find artifacts, and below it a vast lair where ancient monsters hibernated, and a whistling Beanut Temple where you might find a Chilly Beanut. A beautiful pine forest in the backdrop making the little trade center feel cozy and secluded.
Nettle Forest
An overgrown and deeply confusing land of trees, vines, and Ents was created by Detective_Korean. Alabyrinthine amalgamation of flora, this land’s resident lived in a tree house, there was a long-forgotten camp where you could find artifacts, and deep in the ancient areas of the forest the wild creatures could be cut down to claim their unique trophies. Hidden away amongst the underbrush was the Forest beanut Temple where you could chance to find a prickly, Nettle Beanut.
Brittle Bog
A marshy wetland with a mysterious magical history was created by drewcy. This marshy wetland made travel slow and had a mysterious magical history. The old ruins of the Twisted Tower loomed where you could search for the witch’s forgotten artifacts, and in the murky waters ravenous monsters claimed the territory. Stilted above the squishy land stood the abstract Beanut Temple where, you might find the famed Brittle Beanut. A rocky ridge bordered the bog on the outside, making the bog feel quiet and untouched.
Sizzling Sands
A vast desert of heat, fissures of lava, and treasures untold was created by xarfar. The sun-scorched dunes of the Sizzling Sands were vast and took a toll on travelers who were not familiar with the Land. Among the ancient historical ruins, you could find artifacts, but beware the fissures of lava that split the very ground in two! There dwell the canyon creatures that call this land home. Situated near this canyon stood the Beanut Temple where you might find a Sizzle Beanut.

The Planned Sequel
After some time, the Minecraft server continued its seasonal ‘reset’ to a new world, and though the Beanut Lands was saved in a file for posterity, it was no longer available to play on the public server. Brainstorming for this sequel to the original board game began in November of 2020, with 6 new Lands to explore. It remained unfinished, but the inspiration that dreaming up a new set of lands sparked is what started the idea that The Beanut Lands could make a compelling fantasy world.
The 6 newest Lands added in the Sequel game were:
- The Harmonious Glen:
- The Crown City
- The Grave Barrens
- The Forgotten Islands
- The Tangled Towers
- The Leaky Lagoon
Harmonious Glen
A beautiful enchanted forest, full of fae magic and revelry, but is it all that it seems, or is there a sinister presence under the surface? dottedpots was in charge of this new land
Crown City
A mountaintop jewel of the civilized world, where the Beanut Queen herself resides in a glorious palace. drewcy was in charge of this new land
Grave Barrens
A wasteland devoid of anything but darkness and death. Rumors tell of a cult that has claimed the area for their dark deeds. JustinDB was in charge of this new land, and was notably the only participant to complete building his section of the board game.
Forgotten Islands
A mysterious mass of floating rocks suspended above the bay by some strange, gravitic force, home to a curious group of scientists. sorrinrp was in charge of this new land.
Tangled Towers
A jungle-world almost entirely uninhabited save for the strange monks living atop the ancient towers that reach towards the sky out of the overgrown brush below. xarfar was in charge of this new land.
Leaky Lagoon
A sequestered cove, tucked away from prying eyes, which holds beauty and bounty, if only one knows how to find it. matty545 was in charge of this new land.

The Tabletop World
After some time, and a little more work on the sequel’s themes, the idea of making a full-fledged fantasy world map for the Beanut Lands started to crop up. Drewcy had been streaming a good deal of art on Twitch around that time, and so he began creating a map for fun. A few comments were made by friends that it would be a fun world to run a TTRPG in, and the rest is history. Drewcy approached Justin with the offer to Co-create the setting and lore for a more serious (but still silly) world that had a deeper meaning, characters, and locations were added beyond the original 12 Lands, such as the Heartlands, the Hinlands, and many more regions around the world to tie the geography together. History was created, cultures were brought to life, and with the help of the invited players, the world began to feel like more than just a silly idea.
We welcomed five players, Allyster66, dottedpots, Eraleas, That_DL_Kid, and xPandaGorex to be the first players to experience this wonderful world. Later, we also added a new player, Daespyrial to the cast. We have also run 2 exciting one-shot sessions!
What’s next for the Beanut Lands?
We are in the process of building a fully-customized Tabletop System that is centered around the lore and history of our Species, Lands, Cultures, and History. Our new d10 system will have exploding and collapsing dice, unique Attributes and Skills, a Mana-based magic system, and a modular leveling system that uses an Experience Web reminiscent of video games like Path of Exile and Enshrouded.
