Language Points

Language Points

Using Language Points:

‎Language Points (LPs) can be used to do the following:

  • Improve your aptitude in a Known Language by 1 Level.
  • Learn a single Language/dialect of Familiar difficulty.
  • Multiple LPs are required to learn more difficult Languages/dialects.

Learning a language takes time, and you will not instantly be knowledgeable when you spend your LPs (with the exception of character creation). You may choose to save your LPs for future use, but expressing your desire to learn a language to the DM as soon as you are interested is always a good idea, whether you have the LPs to spend or you are expecting to gain some in the near future.
Note: Level 3 Languages/dialects can not be further improved.

Earning Language Points:

‎Language Points can be earned in the following ways:

  • ‎For every point you have on your Intelligence Modifier, you will gain 1 LP. In other words, you will gain 1 LP for every 2 points in INT at these levels: 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20. This means you can reach a maximum of 5 LPs from INT. You only gain the LPs the first time you reach this threshold.
  • Some characters will be assigned a number of LPs upon character creation, from their Culture Group or Background.
